Labour Relations

Our services are aimed at providing a comprehensive coverage of all labour related issues that may affect your enterprise. In this endeavour, we provide an advisory service on all Labour Legislation and rights and obligations of the parties involved. You will be provided with pro forma documentation which will be tailor-made for your Company’s needs.

On request, we also act as Management’s representative in their dealings with Trade Unions, Bargaining Councils, the Department of Labour and the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). In this regard, we have the necessary expertise to:
  • negotiate procedural as well as substantive agreements with emerging and established Unions;
  • facilitate consultations relating to operational requirements, terminations (retrenchments);
  • handle disputes (including strikes) that may emanate from such negotiations and consultations;
  • chair disciplinary in cases of where a dismissal is emanate and grievance hearings;
  • provide pro-forma documentation which are relevant and tailor-made to suit the needs of the enterprise;
  • act as Management’s representative at Conciliation and Arbitration hearings conducted under the auspices of the CCMA or relevant Bargaining Council.

Skills Development

Who must pay Skills Development Levy (SDL)?
All employers whose salary/wage bill exceeds R500 000.00 per year are obliged to pay the SDL.

What amount in SDL must the employer pay?
The liveable amount is calculated at 1% of the company payroll. This amount includes salaries, wages, overtime payments, leave pay, bonuses, commissions and director fees.

How much can an employer claim?
Employers qualify for a grant repayment of 50% of their annual levies paid to SARS.

What are the criteria for claiming?
  • Employers must be up to date with their SDL payments to SARS;
  • Employers must appoint a Skills Development Facilitator;
  • Employers must train their staff or have them trained;
  • Employers must complete and submit a Workplace Skills Plan and an Annual Training Report. The date will be specified by the relevant SETA.

G & T Labour Solution CC assist with:
  • Guide and assist with claiming back 50% of all skills development levies paid to the government.
  • Provides your business with an External Skills Development Facilitator if required;
  • Appoints a Training Committee in the case of 50 or more employees, as envisaged by the Act;
  • Develops, implements and submits a Workplace Skills Plans to the relevant SETA on behalf of the employer if required;
  • Compiles and submits an Annual Training Report to the relevant SETA on behalf of the employer;
  • Acts as medium for communicating information between the employer and the relevant SETA;
  • Provides telephonic advice on any matter relating to Skills Development;
